OUR TEAM

Dr. Maja Segedi

General, HPB and Liver Transplant Surgeon, Fellowship Program Director

As a Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary and Liver Transplant Surgeon at VGH I strive to empower my patients and help them feel in control of their well-being and their surgical journey. My passion is making people’s lives better through considerate surgical management of their disease. My guiding core values are respect, kindness, innovation, and the pursuit of excellence.

My busy Vancouver practice is balanced with my other passion, my family. With the help of my husband we balance the demands of an active family life with two small children. We enjoy attending community cultural events, skiing, and travelling when possible. English is my primary language, and I’m fluent in Serbian, Slovak, and Rusyn having been born and raised in Eastern Europe.

“Know yourself, your values, and priorities (they are your compass). Be kind and humble in your interactions with patients, colleagues and yourself.  Be the main director of your life story—you only get one.”

Jessica Gaunt

Medical Assistant

Born and raised in Falkland, Jessica moved to the Greater Vancouver area to pursue her interest in the medical field.

Starting out working with Autistic kids and families as a Behaviour Interventionist Jessica found her interest in a new field.

Studying out of Douglas College she committed herself to the Medical Office Assistant Program. This is where she came to work in specialists offices including a pediatric neuro ophthalmologist office. After this she began working as a Medical Office Assistant for Dr. Maja Segedi and Dr. Chartier-Plante.

Outside of the office Jess often finds herself buried in a book while enjoying music. She has also recently found an interest in gardening alongside spending time with her family.
